Grey's Anatomy
I miss the episode from two Sundays ago, so I got a big surprise when I watch the new one this past Sunday. Christine (Sandra Oh) and the lead attending surgeon hook up! I was recovering from the shock yesteraday at work when my boss, Elsa and I start to talk about it. She points out something that's very interesting - that TV series lovers usually group by white and non-white. There is always a golden couple that's white, then all the other minorities date each other. Her example is froom ER, when earlier there is this asian women who dated a black doctor. and now there is chemistry between the indian girl and another black doctor. sorry, I don't know their names... anyway, does anyone else notice that?

hahah, yes, i still havent watched the show, but i saw on the previews (way too many times) that sandra oh was gonna hook up with the white boy doctor.
yes, back in the days when i watched ER (dr chan played by ming-na) and the black doc hooked up. the indian girl on it now (she's actually in bend it like bekham- good movie!) is also with another doc. another example is in friends when ross dated that other black paleotologist...
the thing with tv and commercials- they like to portray the world as a melting pot. at first i thought that interracial couples are getting more common- but then i learned in the same article that it *really* is *ONLY* more common in big cities like chicago, nyc... etc. these rare couples still only represent 1% or so of total.
carol, we've gotta keep up with our good work. ;)
oh, and lets not forget one of my FAV shows-- scrubbs (hilarious as hell!)-- that turk (the black surgeon) is married to the mexican nurse.
oh yeah, thanks for another example :) And actually, Sandra Oh hooked up with the black doctor, not the other one that was with Meredith.
And I didn't know that there are so few interracial couples.... We are doing good work then, Christine :)
Ya seriously.. i was abit unhappy when i saw that episode of Grey's Anat. it did remind me of the old episode of ER.. White ppl always clump together while they pile all other minority ppl in together..
also.. they tend make minority people very "inhumane" as in geeks, dorks, emotion-less, rich, or otherwise gangsters in chinatown/brooklyn/etc...
