It's good they got fired

I am very happy that the radio station decided to indefinetly suspend the staff of the radio station that play the "Tsunami Song" that use racial slur. It's very upsetting how people do not take the Tsunami diaster seriously.

Confusing statement

"The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we may be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are able to, you will be notified by e-mail."

This is such a confusing statement, so do they want to interview me or not? I want to know...

I had to sacrifice my first mouse

I had to sacrifice my first mouse, well, first 8 mice. Their mom was not suppose to get pregnant but I didn't separate the mom and dad in time (it's not really my fault, because I didn't learn how to tell male and female mouse apart until a few days later). The litter of mice didn't carry the necessary gene that we want. So very sadly, I had to put them to sleep today. I couldn't watch when I turned on the carbon dioxide :( It takes about 4-5 min for younger mice to die, since they have higher fetal hemogloben count, that makes them harder to kill. I think I will go to buddah temple this weekend, I feel really bad. But I guess they died with purpose, it's in the name of science...

Lost Luggage

For my family's Vail skiing trip, Yi and I decided to fly with Frontier Airline. Well, it's cheaper than Continental Airline and the departure time is better. The flight from Houston to Denver was great, dad and mom took my snowboarding bag with them on their earlier flight with Continental. Yi had no trouble dropping off her bags after we already checked in online. The trouble started on the way back to Houston. When Yi and I went to the Denver airport trying to drop our bags, we had a hard time finding the kiosk that does that. We finally find it next to the priority member check in counter, but the kiosk was not working! This blond hair guy very rudly told Yi and I to wait for the lady at the prioirty member check in counter's help. Well, that lady only care about the priority club member that she ignored us for 10 minutes. Finally, another woman was unwillingly called over to help us. She asked for my ID and boarding pass and ask where I was going. She asked if it's ok to check both of Yi and mine snowboarding bag under my name, I guess because it's less work for her. I took the boarding pass (with baggage stickers on the back) and got on my flight to Houston. Well, Yi and I got to Houston safe and sound, but our luggages went to San Jose. Not only did the luggages went to the wrong city, it was checked in under a different passenger, too, Mr. Nelson Turner. I cannot figure out for the life of me how did my luggages that I told the woman behind the counter is going to Houston went to San Jose. I spent last night and today calling Frontier Airline, Delta Airline (Frontier Airline has no office in Houston, so Delta is responsible in Houston area), San Jose Airport and Denver airport. Everyone keeps telling me they are looking for the luggages and will get back to me soon. That's a lie, no one called me back at all. Finally, after almost 24 hours of trying, at 9pm central time, I finally find out that my luggages has made back to Houston and will probably be at my door around 11pm. This is my first time losing luggages and I do hope it's my last, too. It's just too much work to find them!

My Snowboarding Trip

Sorry that I haven't update my blog for awhile, I was out in Vail, CO for snowboarding with my dad, mom and Yi (older sis). The weather in Vail is great, mostly in the 40s & 50s. So I don't have to dress up in too much layers in order to survive on the slope! But at the same time, it didn't snow at all while I was there, so the slope just gets more and more icy. I stayed mostly on green and blue lane, so I was ok. But I did took a dramatic fall on my second day of snowboarding :P While going down on the "Born Free" blue slope that I went down so many times already, I caught something while going down and fell backward. I tumble down the hill and flip backward twice before I stopped. I was lucky that I didn't hurt myself, especially that I wasn't wearing a helmet! Needless to say, I immediately went to shop at the base and rented a helmet for the rest of the trip. Rest of my snowboarding trip went well until the last day (Tuesday) when I decided to go try out the snowboarding park with Yi. We start out with very small hills and small jumps. Thing went well until during one of the jump I got bold, and jumped a lot higher than usual. Well, I end up landing on my chest :P It hurts so bad, plus my right wrist is spraned a bit from trying to break the fall. Well, for the rest of the day, I stay away from jumping and ended my day peacefully. Vail is a great place to go snowboarding and I want to go again soon!!!

Time travel

I was thinking if I will choose to go back in time if I have a choice because of med school application. Some schools express concern of my low undergraduate GPA. I understand their concerns but feel frustrated that they focused on something that I have no control over anymore. Thus come the topic of time travel. Will I go back to the beginning of my college year and do it all over again with all the knowledge I have right now? I am not sure, the things I scare the most is losing all the friends I have right now. Before I head into college, I have two good friends, Christine and Olivia. Since College (and work and graduate school), I met so many other great friends that I am not sure if it is worth it to lose them. Plus, who says I won't make other mistakes. It's kind of interesting to think how you will live your life if you have a glimpse of the future already. What do you think? :)

Stupidest warning label

I found this article in CNN Money, I should look through all the warning labels on the products that I have in the house to see if I can find any more. :)

Men vs. Women

Hi guys,
I got this from my friend Ellen and I cannot stop laughing, especially for #13! Hope this will bring a smile to your day :D

  1. Tests have shown that women rate 3% higher in general intelligence than men, although their brain size is smaller. Most women act dumb to make their mates look good.
  2. Women are walking radar detectors, that is why men have difficulty lying to women. Their brains have the ability to integrate and decipher verbal, visual and other signals of body language.
  3. Women want sex with the man she loves. Men just want lots of sex.
  4. Women talk and think aloud while men do them silently. As a result, men think women talk too much and are nags.
  5. Women talk about their problems as a way of relieving stress. She wants to be heard, not fixed by being offered advice and solutions.
  6. Speech and words are not a specific brain skills for men. They find it hard to express themselves. That's why they often choose greeting cards with plenty of words inside. That way, there's less space for them to write.
  7. Women leave men, not because they are unhappy with what he can provide, but because they are emotionally unfulfilled.
  8. Women uses an average of 20,000 communication words, sounds, and gestures a day. Men only use about 7,000.
  9. So if a woman is talking to you a lot, she likes you. But if she's not talking, you're in trouble.
  10. Men are more thick-skinned than women. Literally. Which explains why women have more wrinkles than men. Boys lose their sensitivity to touch by the time they reach puberty. So where does all that sensitivity go? It all goes to just one area.
  11. If a woman is unhappy in her relationship, she can't concentrate on her work. If a man is unhappy at work, he can't focus on his relationship.
  12. Men can only do one thing at a time. When they stop their car to read a street directory, they have to turn down the radio. Women's brains are configured for multi-tasking performance. They can talk on the phone, watch the TV and cook at the same time.
  13. Most men get a brain hemorrhage after 20 minutes of clothes shopping.
  14. When it comes to sex, women need a reason; men need a place.
  15. 15% to 20% of men have feminised brains. About 10%of women have masculinised brains. So there are more gays than lesbians in the world.
