I am helping organizing this conference, please come if you have time!
APAMSA is the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association.
We are a national organization that aims to address those issues important to Asian-American medical students. In addition we are interested in both directly promoting the health and well-being of the Asian community as well as in helping all healthcare workers who work with these communities understand how to care for the Asian patient in a culturally sensitive manner.
As such, we are proud to have Dr. Walter Tsou, past president of the American Public Health Association, as our keynote speaker in this year’s APAMSA Region III Conference. Furthermore, we are delighted to have Dr. Calvin Johnson, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, discuss issues pertaining to Physicians, Politics and Public Health. This conference will also address disparities through talks on Health Communication (Dr. Giang Nguyen), the Trauma of Dislocation (Dr. Salman Akhtar), Hepatitis B and Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Asian Americans (Dr. Hie-Won Hann), Cancer Prevention and Early Detection in Asian American Populations (Dr. Grace Ma), and other healthcare related topics.
We cordially invite all medical and allied health students, premedical students, physicians, community health leaders, and anyone interested in learning more about Asian Pacific American health to attend our conference at Jefferson Medical College.
