My very first flat tire!

My dad and my mom was in town this past weekend from Thurs to Sunday. So Friday after class, I decided to take them to the Philadelphia City Hall for the tour. Once I was near the city hall, I started to circle the street for parking. After deciding it will be hard to find street parking, we decided to park the car in the garage. When we decided to park, the closest parking garage charge $15 while the one we passed earlier charge ~$7. So I decided to go back. While making a turn, I cut too close to the side of the street because there is this lady slowing crossing the street and got a flat tire! I come out the car and the guy who owns the corner store points out to me that there is this piece of metal sorta sticking out from the corner that cause flat tire quiet often! I went to look and for sure, there is this piece of metal put in the concrete to protect the corner (?) and one of the edge of the metal is no in the concrete and that's how I got my flat tire! Gladly, a guy in the parking garage help my dad changed the tire and Andy helped me find a tire store not far away. I have to get a new tire for $140! I am going to go take a picture of the street corner and write to the city to complain. My poor poor car.....

Yeah! Cables!

Finally, after almost two weeks with crappy cable, it's finally fixed!!! So the trouble started about two sat ago when all of the sudden, the pictures start to go in and out every 2 seconds. The problem sorta fixed itself after 2 days but returen in another 2 days. After multiple phone calls to the Urban Cablework and two missed appointment later, I finally got it fixed, or at least I think. The cable was behaving when the cable guy got here, so I have to describe the problem to him. The probable cause is the cable box - converter problem. The cable guy told the problem is most likely because the cable box is re-furbished. Hmmmm.... let's hope the problem is permenantly fixed, I can't call the cable company for about one month right now, too angry at them :P The lady I was talking to was making fun of me becuase I was getting upset, she says "you shouldn't be upset, it's only cable!" Yikes, can you imaging cable company saying that! But thanks to Andy! He called the cable company for me and got me one month of credit :) Thank you thank you!

Should the woman take the responsibility?

I was learning about teratology today in class, which is basically environmental/external factor other than the fetal gene that cause fetus malformation. The professor (a woman) brings up an example in the end of the class that a young woman came to her after a car accident. The patients was unaware that she was pregnant at the time of the car accident and during her treatment at the ER and OR she got a x-ray and anethnestia for her surgery. She came to my professor to ask about the probability that her baby have congential defect. After carefully analyze the patient's record and taken everything into consideration, she determined that the patient only have a slight chance above the normal chance of having a malformation baby. But the patient decided to have an abortion eventually base on the information she received. The woman later sue the driver of the other car for her loss of pregnancy. The comment my professor made was that the woman did not take responsibility of her own action and decided to blame it on someoen else. I don't know, I think the woman made the best decision she can and the other car driver is partially reponsible. I don't think you can say the woman didn't take responbility of her decision, that's totally unrelated to her later decicision to sue the other driver.

Another TB test!!!!

Ok, I understand TB is very easy transmitted and everyone should be tested. But why do I have to get tested twice within one year! I mean, I just got tested in Nov 2004, but school insisted I get another one which has to be within three month to matriculation to class. I am not sure if all of you guys know about my "dislike" to TB test, I always test negative, don't get me wrong. It's just that I develop this silver dollar size rash around the injection site which won't go away for about 2 month. Very sad right now....... :(

studying and sleepy

hmmmm, all of the sudden really sleepy right now while studying biochemistry, maybe it's because the kitty is sleeping next to me right now. She is such a princess, if I move to grab a high lighter or something, she gets annoyed and will use her paws to put me in the comfortable position for her :P ok, going to check out some biochem slides on the website and try to study now, have an exam on thurs, yikes!!!!

My first day of Orientation at Drexel

Well, I am officially a medical student today :) The Orientation starts at 11am, so it allows me to sleep in a bit, which I needed. I felt very lonely all of the sudden on Sunday after taking Andy to the airport. I was very sad throughout the rest of the afternoon while shopping for more stuff for the apartment. I went to grocery store and stock up my kitchen with hamburger helper, rosolini and pasta :P But seriously, I will not go to the grocery store I went yesteraday as it was VERY ghetto.... scary..... I made myself hamburger helper and then head to bed. Woke up this morning at 8:30am and start to make coffee and just read CNN for a bit. Then finally start to get ready ~9:30am and drove over to school ~10am. There are already a ton of people there, so I get in the line to get my photo taken and start to chat with people. A lot of them are from PA or NY or CA, but I actualy met three people from Houston, TX!!! Anyway, after getting photo ID, we went into the auditorium for the usual speakers talk and talk about school regulation and policy and all that. Then it's lunch, and we were break into small group, that was better as we can chat with people better rather than try to talk to 250 people all at once. After lunch it's more school talk, then small group again. I went to registra office after the orientation and get my transcript staighten out.

I decided to come home and call IKEA to sort out my furniture order/delivery. Then track down BestBuy with help of my mom about my TV delivery. Finally got them to deliver my TV tomorrow, but there is not much use of it, i have no cable until Friday.... very sad.....

There was an optional activity to go out to this bar not far from school, but I started to read Harry Potter when I get home and just don't feel like going out to drink and see people getting drunk :P According to my frined Lynn who went, that's exactly what happened! I feel so old for not wanting to go at all :P I enjoy drinking a lot more with friends and family than strangers I guess.

I have now finished Harry Potter and can't wait for the last one to come out! Has anyone else finish reading it????
