Thankgiving - Ham or Turkey?

Thanksgiving is coming and I am faced with a dilemma. Yi (my older sister) said that she want to bake a turkey for the family. The problem is, even with just a 8lb turkey, it's still too big for Yi, mom and I to consume. Dad can't make it to Houston this Christmas and Lucy has to work at Disney. So I am not so hot about the Turkey idea. Plus when I was in HEB shopping today, they have ham tasting session. It's honey roasted and it taste great! Mom says maybe we should consider having ham for this holiday. But the problem with the ham in HEB is also that it's too big, so mom says she will check out this place in Houston that's famous for ham to see if they sell smaller one. So if you guys have time, take a vote for me, Turkey (follow Thanksgiving tradition) or Ham :)

I am not going to a gala this weekend :(

Well, I was suppose to go to this gala on Saturaday with Honey, my roommate in Mexico Volunteer trip. The gala is for Jewish Women Cancer Society and Honey told me at first the ticket is $125. It's a lot of money but I thought it will be nice to go and meet people. The bad news is that when I try to get the ticket, the lady told me it's actually $175. That kind of just went over my budget too much, so I guess I am not going, kind of sad, but I am sure there will be other events that I can attend. Oh well....

I got a pager!

I got a pager today, yeah! Well, my boss gives one to me because she wants to be able to find me in the building. I have to go to different part of the building to conduct my experiment. So I guess in a way it's bad, because now she can track me down everywhere....

Medical School rejection letter

Hmmm, I got my third medical school rejection letter today from University of Wisconsin. It seems like no matter how many rejection letter you get, you never get use to it. Although Milwaukee is not my ideal place to go to medical school, it would still be nice to go if given the chance. Oh well, 29 more schools to go :)

First week of work conclusion

I am so glad to be able to sleep in and not have to wake up at 5:35AM to get ready to take the bus. And it's sunny out! This is has been good, with many ups and downs. The rain didn't help much during my two day orientation. I have to run out on Wed night at 5:15 trying to get to the airport to catch my flight to Philadelphia. The highlight to of my week is that I get to see Josephine and Mike at Philly, very nice to see them :) My interview with Drexel on Thursday are different from my last year's one, so I was throw off a bit. I hope things turns out well. Last night, after my first week of work, I took my mom out for dinner to Pesce, it's a Houston area seafood restaurant. It's really good, if you are a seafood lover, you should go. Right now, I have to go get ready and starting packing aggin, leaving for DC tonight for my Georgetown interview on Monday. Ahhh, I hope I don't have Dr. Wall as interviewer again...

I got soaked!

I woke up at 5:10AM and got ready for work around 5:35AM, I asked my mom if it's raining outside but she told me it's just the sprinklers. Well, it's not the sprinklers and it starts to rain when I got on the bus and it went non-stop today. Houston has never seen so much rain, so, I got soaked the first day of work, at least I didn't wear a white T-shirt :P Throughout orientation today, I got brainwashed into beliving MD Anderson is the greatest place to work at and I should be really grateful that I got an offer to work there :P Oh, and MD Anderson will ALWAYS be the #1 cancer center in the world! Ok, I sound psychotic now :P I also found out today that I am the only person that my boss hired for her brand new lab here in MD Anderson, I guess I won't have any colleagues to talk to for awhile. Poor me.... :P
